About BUL

Welcome to the Birmingham Urban League online, a resource of information regarding our programs and services, staff, special events and community partners.  The Birmingham Urban League is an affiliate of the National Urban League, the nation’s oldest and largest community-based movement. We are devoted to helping empower underserved individuals in the Birmingham community to enter the social and economic mainstream.

Leadership built the Birmingham Urban League (BUL) to address the civil unrest generated by unequal treatment in the south. Today, BUL stands ready to support the needs of at-opportunity youth as we build the next generation of community leaders.

The Urban League provides direct services to support job and entrepreneurial training, financial literacy, home ownership preparation and social skills development.

We seek to continue the legacy of our founders by setting our youth up for success.
