Rental and utility Assistance

The City of Bessemer has allocated $1 million dollars to support its' citizens with rent, mortgage and utility assistance.  The program is funding by federal congressional legislation (ARPA).  

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

1. Must be a resident of the City of Bessemer living inside city limits
2. Household income must be at or below 80% of the area median income
3. Must currently meet one or more of the following:

• Qualify for unemployment benefits
• Experienced a reduction in household income
• Incurred significant increase in household expenses

HOW TO APPLY:

Residents may apply in person at the Bessemer Civic Center, (1130 9th Ave SW, Bessemer, AL 350222) Monday and Wednesday - 1:00 pm - 4:30 pm, OR Tuesday and Thursday - 8:00 am - 12 noon.
